Before you know it, swimsuit season will be here. Try not to panic.

Let me guess, you eat pretty healthy and you work out on a regular basis, but you still have “problem” areas. Areas that are all too evident in a swimsuit. How did I know? Who doesn’t have those problem areas?

Okay, I can think of a few celebrities, but I bet they didn’t do it alone… and you don’t have to either. I want to help by sharing some of my tricks and tips for getting fit without breaking the bank, specifically my homemade lose weight body wrap.

The goal isn’t for you to be rockin’ an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polkadot bikini (although if you can, good for you!), but for you to be comfortable during the summer. No, you don’t have to go out and join an expensive and intimidating gym or pay hundreds of dollars for lose weight body wraps, equipment, special food, etc.

You can get in shape and become a healthier person in the comfort of your own home using things like these DIY lose weight body wraps.

Spot Patterns
When you start the journey to being healthier, it is important to keep in mind that visible and lasting changes won’t happen over night. In fact, I highly recommend using a weight loss chart to track your progress so you’ll be able to spot any success, no matter how small. A food journal may also come in handy so you can look for patterns in your eating habits. For example, you may find you tend to go a little crazy in the evening or can’t resist a 3 o’clock snack. Spotting your habits, good and bad, can allow you to make changes where needed.

Take Advantage of Freebies
If you’re concerned about your budget, be sure to check out fitness blogs, Pinterest, and other sites for free workout plans and free weight loss programs. There are plenty of people out there willing to share what worked for them… and hopefully those tactics will also work for you. In addition to exercise regimes, there are also plenty of free healthy recipes out there. Here are 25 healthy lunch recipes to show you just how tasty healthy can be!

Avoid Convenience and Trends
Pre-prepared foods shipped to you are definitely convenient, but they’re also costly. Save your money and make your own meals. Take advantage of the Internet’s plethora of free recipes and all that your grocery store has to offer. Clean eating on your own can be a challenge, but there are plenty of tips out there to help you get started. 

Another thing to watch out for when trying to improve your health and fitness level is trends. For example, it is very trendy to go have a lose weight body wrap done at a spa, and while there is nothing inherently wrong with doing so, it can be a real strain on any budget. Many professional wraps cost over $100! Another trend that can drain your wallet is juice cleanses. Buying pre-prepared juices racks up a bill fast! Instead, if there’s a trend you want to participate in, whether it is lose weight body wraps or juice cleanses, look for ways to do them at home. 

Are Wraps Good for Weight Loss?

Try DIY
As I’ve said (again and again), DIY can save you money. For example, you can save approximately $100 just by making a lose weight body wrap at home (versus going to a spa). The directions for this homemade lose weight body wrap are below, but before we dive right in, a few notes.

These lose weight body wraps work by making you sweat. They are not a diet and exercise plan. You should not use them constantly as they may cause dehydration and other health problems. Lose weight body wraps are meant more as a temporary spot treatment. They can help you get rid of water weight in a hurry. However, without proper diet and exercise, the lose weight body wraps will not produce meaningful, long lasting results.

As mentioned above, this DIY lose weight body wrap works by making you sweat, so it is important to monitor your hydration level during and after a wrap. You should also be aware of your body. If you’re feeling overheated and ill, remove the lose weight body wrap immediately!

Lastly, lose weight body wraps are not for children. They should not be used if you are pregnant, taking medications that can make you feel hot, or breastfeeding. If you have a health condition, consult with a doctor before using the DIY lose weight body wrap.

Well, now that I’ve scared you :), let’s whip up a cleansing juice drink and wrap ourselves up like a mummy with the lose weight body wrap!

MATERIALS

Any lotion
Plastic wrap
Bandage wrap

DIRECTIONS

1. Rub a thick layer of lotion on your stomach and sides.

2. Wrap plastic wrap around your middle section.
Tip: You want it to be snug but not tight.

3. Wrap the bandage around your middle section over the plastic wrap and secure it.

4. Wear a shirt over top to help keep everything in place.

5. Relax.

6. After an hour or so remove the lose weight body wrap, rub in any remaining lotion, and check out your results.

However, when I can find a few minutes to spare, I do like to surprise my family with a special sweet treat now and again… like this simple banana cake recipe.

This easy banana cake recipe is the perfect lightweight spring or summer dessert option. It goes perfectly with freshly brewed coffee and is made even better by the addition of the easy caramel icing recipe included in this article.

This crumb-licking-good, moist banana cake recipe is a great option for the busy chef. The most complicated thing about it is “making” sour milk (combining milk and vinegar). Plus, this simple banana cake recipe is a great way to use up those bananas you keep forgetting about… yeah, those really ripe ones nearly hidden behind the coffeemaker.

If you aren’t sure how to make banana cake, no worries. It really isn’t that hard. Even the easy caramel icing recipe can be tackled in just a few minutes.

However, I don’t just like this simple banana cake recipe and easy caramel icing recipe because its quick and uncomplicated. On top of being simple, these recipes are delicious and the moist banana cake recipe isn’t too sweet. If you’ve got a raging sweet tooth, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of this easy caramel icing recipe but if you’re more of a savory palette (or maybe just trying to watch those calories) the simple banana cake recipe will probably hit the spot just fine.

Can I Use Frozen Bananas?

Though I’ve never used frozen bananas, I would imagine they would be just as delicious in this recipe. Make sure you thaw the bananas at room temperature and drain any liquid. Then follow the recipe as listed below. 

BANANA CAKE INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 softened butter
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup sour milk*
2 ripe bananas

*Sour milk – mix 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Let stand 10-15 minutes.

CARAMEL ICING INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
2 cups powdered sugar

SIMPLE BANANA CAKE RECIPE DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350° and grease a 9 x 13 baking pan with butter.

2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter and shortening until creamy.

3. Mix in sugar and eggs.

4. Mix in flour, baking powder, and baking soda.

5. Mix in sour milk and vanilla extract.
Note: You make sour milk for this simple banana cake recipe by combining one cup of milk with one tablespoon vinegar. Allow the mixture to stand for 10-15 minutes before using in this recipe.

6. Mix in ripe bananas.

7. Pour cake batter into the baking pan

8. Bake for 25-30 minutes

9. Remove and let cool.
