Peanut Sauce

Peanut sauce is always good, and this particular recipe is also very quick and simple. Peanut sauce
Yield 1 cup
Time 5 minutes
Tools
  • saucepan or wok
  • whisk
Ingredients
  • ½ c peanut butter, preferably unsweetened
  • ¼ c brown rice vinegar
  • 2 T chopped cilantro, chives, or scallions
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-2 T soy sauce
  • 2 t light brown sugar (unless peanut butter is sweetened)
  • 1 t chili oil, chili powder, or paprika
  • ¼ – ½ c warm water
Directions Over medium-low heat, whisk together everything, including ¼ c water.

Taste and adjust seasonings, then gradually whisk in more water until desired consistency. Serve.

Notes Peanut sauce thickens as it cools off, so you may need to add more water if you don’t serve it right away.

This peanut sauce is excellent over fried tofu and fried tempeh.
