Veldpaus, Margaret Theresa

Margaret (Marg) passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 20, 2026 surrounded by her family. It was a very hard, but fitting end to her story; surrounded by the same family that spent every Sunday evening at her house for family dinner. There was always a fresh pot of coffee brewing making her kitchen feel warm and inviting. Company was always made to feel welcome. Of late though, it was a blessing to have such good friends and family bring her a coffee on their weekly visits or give her a call. She looked so forward to reminiscing about the good old days and sharing a good laugh.

She loved her family deeply and was a soft spot to land for many of us. She was always there in their time of need and to celebrate all of their milestones providing unconditional love.

Margaret is reunited with her loving husband John, who would have been married 59 years this year. Together once more as they were always meant to be.

Margaret Veldpaus (nee Willett) at the age of 80 years, beloved wife of the late John Joseph Veldpaus. Loving mother of Wayne (Cherianne), Christine Hawkins (Scott), and Angela Epema (Eric). Dear grandmother of Kyle, Curtis, Brittany, Aaron, Devin, Courtney, Cherie and Paige. GG will be greatly missed by her 11 great grandchildren.

Mary (Reit) Petra Ehlebracht (née Gerrits)
July 4, 1933 – September 23, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Petra Ehlebracht (née Gerrits), who passed away peacefully in her home in Guelph, Ontario, on September 23, 2026, at the age of 93.

Mary was a loving mother to Harry, Patricia, the late Michael, and Kate (Richard). She was a cherished grandmother to the late Rachel, and a proud great-grandmother to Jesse and Kylee. Mary will be remembered for her deep faith, commitment and love for her family and her industriousness and ingenuity for a multitude of do-it-yourself projects, renovations, real estate endeavors as well as providing a safe and warm home away from home for numerous University of Guelph Students that lived with her for over 25 years. Mary loved music especially the German music on her radio on Saturday mornings. She also had the biggest green thumb with a long history of enormous vegetable gardens, and her celebrated collection of Clivias that she jokingly said she “smuggled” in from the Netherlands when she immigrated in 1953 as well as several trees that she grew from seeds around her home in Guelph.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Mattea (Tilly) (the late Jacob (Jack)), Joanne (John), and John (Sara), and by her close and dear friend Eileen Bousfield.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Herman and Helena Gerrits, and is now reunited with them and her loved ones who passed before her.
She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

Cook: Doris Elizabeth (nee: Geer);

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Doris Elizabeth Cook (née Geer), who passed away peacefully at the IOOF Seniors Home in Barrie at the age of 102. Doris is now reunited in Heaven with her loving husband, Robert Murray Cook. She was the loving mother of Marlene (Herman), the late Wayne, Debbie (Gary), Wendy (Bob), and Chris (Julie). A proud Grandma to Kim (Tim), Rob (Andrea), Carrie, Pam, Christa (Andrew), Richard (Cate), and Jodi (Julian). She was a loving great-grandmother to Jacob (Rachel), Benjamin (Leah), Joshua (Olivia), Jordyn (Dorian), Brookelynn, Brianna, Jack, and Elodie. Doris was predeceased by her siblings, Keith (the late Annette), Marshall (the late Charmine), Beulah (the late Arthur), and her late sister-in-law Marilyn Bachly (the late David). Doris will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Visitation will be held at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham, 905-936-3477, on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Cliffside Hall. Veronica Adella Richards arrived at her final destination, Heavenly Heights on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Imagine! As she approached the pearly gates, the gates swung open. Standing in the gateway was Jesus Christ her Lord and Saviour with a smile as wide as the diameter of the universe. He looked at her and spoke softly. “Well done good and faithful servant. You may enter into your rest. I’ve waited with great anticipation for you. Precious in my sight are you my saintly Veronica Adella Richards for you have died in me.” Imagine! As Jesus reaches out to greet Veronica with a holy kiss, Velvit the cat rushes in. Seizing the moment, Velvit meowed. “Grandma, what took you so long. I missed you dearly.” Affectionately Velvit looked at Veronica. Pitifully she said: “Did you forget I need a daily dose of tummy rub. Today I move into your mansion in Heavenly Heights.”

God blessed us with Veronica Adella Richards on March 6, 1947. Missing her more than words can say, God called her home. Veronica was a loving mother of three, Claudine (Blessing), Marcia, and Andrew (Michelle) and a doting grandmother of seven (Chantell, Martika, Marquan, Precious, Marniesa, Joshua and Justin).

Veronica exemplified the Lord in that she loved her children and grandchildren equally. She was a Godly woman who exuded the peace of God in every difficult and unbearable situation. She was the epitome of perseverance by faith in Jesus Christ, the One in whom she could do all things, no matter the difficulties. Her faith was admirable and worthy of emulation.

On behalf of Veronica and family, we express our heartfelt gratitude to the management and staff at Southlake Residential Care Village. There were many staff persons at Southlake Residential Care Village that went over and beyond the call of duty to provide care for Veronica. We thank each of you from the depth of our hearts for loving her as if she was your own mother. We saw your tears and heard your stories of personal interaction with Veronica. We are pleased Veronica had a positive impact on your lives.

VIENNEAU, Donald Charles “Don” “Donnie”

Passed away peacefully with the love of his family by his side. Donnie will be sadly missed by Peggy (John), Anne (the late John), David (Dorothy), Robert (Evy), Lawrence (Cheryl), Randy (Bernice), Theresa (Jens), Linda (John), Robert (Cora), and Ed (Krista). He was predeceased by his mother, Eva Noreen, and his father, Adrien. Uncle Donnie will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews. He had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog and best friend, Louie.

It is with sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Gary Francis Hogan at Bethell House on September 10, 2026, in his 76th year.
Gary was the loving husband of Lenore Ruth (Bagshaw) for nearly 49 years and soulmate for over 57. He was the proud father of Dr. Mary (Clayton) Pickering, Colleen (Geoffrey) Hastings and Noel (Nicole), and “Pa” to Thomas and Leo Hastings as well as Rory, Patrick and Cedric Hogan.
Gary was predeceased by his parents Leo and Margaret (née Blaney), brother Michael (Marianne) and sister Janis (Ronald Weldon), and will be remembered by his nieces, nephews and extended family.
Gary treasured his community of Connor and relished his many friends and neighbours.
Visitation will be held at Rod Abrams Funeral Home, 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham, 905-936-3477, on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 5:00–8:00 p.m.

We are heartbroken to share news of his passing at Matthews House Hospice Alliston, peacefully with his loving family by his side, on September 7, 2026. John Purchase at the age of 80 years, was a dedicated father to Emily and Gillian and dearest Poppa of Owen and Morgan. Sadly missed by his sister Elizabeth Bingham (Robert), fondly remembered by his nieces Erin, Katharine, and Rebecca. Forever in the hearts of his extended family, friends, and his family dogs Scout and Savi.

John was born on March 12, 1946 in Mumbles, Wales to Arthur and Molly Purchase. Emigrating in 1957, the family settled in Etobicoke. John majored in history at Wilfred Laurier University and received his degree from Lakeshore Teacher’s College. Always going above and beyond, in class and in extra curriculars, most of his over 25 years of teaching career was spent at Greenholme Junior School in Rexdale where his commitment to his students created a positive influence that was immeasurable.

John and his new family moved to Tottenham in 1977, becoming an active participant in the community including the Blackhorse Theatre while maintaining his passions for rugby, fishing, gardening, and golfing with dear friends.

His love and devotion for his family was beyond reproach. He fought with all his strength to stay as long as he could, and for that they will always be grateful.

The family will receive friends at Rod Abrams Funeral Home 1666 Tottenham Rd., Tottenham 905-936-3477 on Sunday September 13, 2026 with the Funeral Service in the chapel at 4pm. Reception will follow in the funeral homes Cliffside Hall. Private family interment will be held at a later date in Mt. Tegart Cemetery. As a long time recipient of donations, give blood if you can. McGovern: Elizabeth “Betty June” (nee Wyatt),
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Betty June” McGovern, who passed away peacefully at Muskoka Shores Long Term Care in Gravenhurst, Ontario, at the age of 83.
A devoted mother, Betty will be deeply missed by Elizabeth (Bill), Bridget (Albert), Cathy (Nelson), and Dave, and was predeceased by her daughter Gertrude (the late Mark) and son John (Tali).
Betty is now reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Percy Wyburn McGovern.
She will be deeply missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law Jim (Linda), Bob (Lorraine), William, George (Jackie), and was predeceased by Alec, Eddie, Earl, Tom, and Suzie.
Betty will also be deeply missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the love, memories, and special moments they shared with her.
She will be forever remembered in the hearts of her extended family, and many dear friends.
Betty will be lovingly remembered for the love she gave to her family and the many cherished memories she leaves behind. Though she will be greatly missed, she will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tracey Lynn McCallum, who passed away on September 2, 2026, at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario, at the age of 59.

Tracey was a devoted daughter to Dianne McCallum, a loving mother to Kristopher (Laura), and a cherished grandmother to Layla and Evelyn. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Cheryl McCallum and Dawna Currie (Dean), as well as by her niece and nephew, Taylor and Jordan.

Tracey’s love extended beyond her family. She held a special place in her heart for her beloved cats, Norman and Oliver, who brought her great comfort and joy throughout the years.

Tracey has been reunited in Heaven with her father, Kenneth McCallum; her grandparents, Gladys Ball and Jay Gilroy; her mother-in-law, Tala Nicholson; and all those who predeceased her.

Tracey will be remembered for the love, kindness, and warmth she shared with family and friends throughout her life. While her presence will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she gave will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 10, 2026, at Traditions Banquet Hall (Sheba Shrine) located at 142 John Street, Barrie, Ontario, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
