E. Louise Mosley, 82, passed away on Friday May 24, 2024 at the University of Chicago Hospital in Chicago, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Preston and Fannie Rutledge-Preston, her three brothers Paul, Leroy and Richard Preston, her sister Gladys Glenn and nephew Johnny Preston, two niece’s Natalie Clark and Ophelia Preston.

E. Louise leaves to cherish her memories 2 daughter’s, Bregayia (John) Horne of Irvington, NJ and Sheila (Kelvin) Teamer of Plainfield, IL, 1 sister Gloria Washington of Columbus, OH, 5 grandchildren, Deshietha (Tremayne) Partee-Grier of Tampa, FL, Tiffany Jones of Bolingbrook, IL, Julian Preston of Columbus, OH, Ronald Jones II of Joliet, IL, Joshua (Lonna) Jones Sr. of Davenport, IA.

She leaves her 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter, 1 sister-in-law Victoria Preston of Columbus, OH and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, loved one and friends. Her church families from Union Hill MBC and South Park MBC of Chicago, IL and Triedstone MB Church of Columbus, OH.

Sophia Lou Moore Osborne-Chatman was born on December 7, 1935 in Mansfield, Ohio to Luke and Ila Mae Moore. She was the third child born to this union. Sophia had one brother, Ricardo, and two sisters, Virginia (Vicki) and Carolyn. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio and
settled in the Mount Vernon Avenue area.

Sophia was educated in the Columbus Public School system; she attended Douglas Elementary, Champion Middle, and East High School, respectively. Although she did not graduate high school, she did receive her GED and was determined to move forward in life.

She met and later married Leroy Osborne in Columbus, Ohio. The union eventually ended in divorce and Sophie became a single mother. In her late forties, she realized her dream of furthering her education. Juggling the responsibility of raising teenagers, she enrolled at
Columbus State Community College. She earned a degree in social work but didn’t stop there. She had her eyes set on a nursing degree, so she later returned to Columbus State to complete her degree. She flourished in her career in the healthcare field. She began her nursing career at The Ohio State University Medical Center, where she served diligently. Upon retiring from OSU in 1989, she began a second career as a Private Duty Nurse, then as a Charge Nurse at the Corrections Medical Center, at the Orient Correctional facility. Sophia also worked for the Gary Family as an assistant in their business.

Sophia spent her life caring for others; her family and her community. She loved spending time with her family. Holidays, birthdays, and family gatherings were special to her. Sophia loved the Lord. She ministered through her gift of compassion. She was a devoted member of the
Maynard Avenue Baptist Church. Later, she became a member of Columbus Bible Way church. An active member in both church families with such duties as Sunday School Teacher, Usher, among countless committees and groups. She believed in God’s word and was a living example of his grace. Through her many medical trials and life’s tribulations, she held on to her faith, she embodied the serenity prayer.

While she mostly enjoyed gospel music such as James Cleveland, Shirley Caesar, and the Hawkins Family, Sophia also enjoyed listening to jazz at Mayme Moore Park and the Jazz and Rib Festival. Her hobbies were bowling, traveling, and watching her favorite TV. shows, the Price is Right and Victor on the Young & the Restless. Her favorite song was Al Green’s, “Love and Happiness”. She also enjoyed watching football and basketball; her favorite player was the late Kobe Bryant.

Sophia Osborne-Chatman passed away peacefully on the morning of May 23, 2024, at home with her family by her side. Sophia is preceded in death by her parents, Luke and Ila Mae Moore; her husband, Bart Chatman; her ex-husband, Leroy Osborne; her son, James Moore; her daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Morgan; her son in law, Clifford Morgan; her grandson, Marcus Friday; brother, Ricardo Moore; her sister, Virigina “Vicki” Williams.

Sophia leaves behind a legacy of compassion and kindness. She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Friday, Sandra Osborne, and Patricia Osborne; granddaughters, Cherise Morgan and Tamika Gills; grandsons, Cortland (Valin) Haynes II, Clifford “Star” (Tabitha) Osborne, Shaka
Slade, Charles (Mary) Moore and Jose Friday; thirty-two great grandchildren; seventeen great-great Children; and five great-great-great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Modena of California; brother-in-law, Stephen (JoAnn) Mimms of Maryland, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special sister friends, Aggie Moorer and Queenie Smithy; and great neighbor, Kimberly (William) Bringham.

Brandi Nicole (Tatum) Holly, age 44, was sent from Heaven on June 30,1979 in Columbus, OH.  She returned to God on Sunday, May 26, 2024, peacefully at her home in Columbus, OH.

Brandi accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by her Dad, Pastor Wayne T. Lee, Jr, at the Jordan.  She was a longtime member and Deaconess of Jordan Bible Church (JBC), where she was reared from her youth, and served faithfully in numerous capacities over the years.  Brandi was the youngest of the PK’s (First Family).

Brandi was educated at the St. Augustine and St. Thomas Catholic Schools, and later graduated from Bishop Hartley High School, Columbus, OH in 1997. She also completed studies at the Northeast Career Center where she obtained her Culinary Arts Certificate, and the family will miss her “special” deserts, she so carefully prepared for them. Brandi received her Cosmetology License and worked for Circle of Styles Salon, and was also an in-house beautician at Wayne T. Lee Funeral Service for many years.  In addition, Brandi worked for Columbus City Schools – Latch Key Program for several years and furthered her career as a CDA Teacher at Joyful Beginnings Children’s Learning Academy. She completed college credits at Columbus State Community College.

She was currently an employee at Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she really loved her job.  In a very short time, she made an impact on her colleagues and those she encountered, as many have shared how they will miss her beautiful smile and sweet disposition.  Brandi had aspirations and goals and always stuck to them, by pursuing them without ceasing. In fact, she had an affirmations wall in her room, which included post-it notes of encouraging words, goals and motivational quotes and thoughts.

Brandi loved the Lord and loved Gospel Music.  She was active in the Columbus religious community participating in and instrumental with the administrative department of One Voice Conference for many years; also, Kushy Music.  She was the proud MOMager, and #1 supporter of her oldest son’s musical aspirations – TK$MOKE.

Brandi was affectionately known as “Nikki” and “Brandi Candi” by her family; “Muffin” by her brother; and also known as “Sissy” by both her sister and niece. Brandi enjoyed watching all of her TV shows, and visiting specialty restaurants and smoothie spots.  She also loved traveling with her family and going on family vacations and cruises (gold card status – IYKYK). Brandi especially enjoyed many family visits to Disney World, as she has always been an avid Mickey Mouse fan.

Brandi was thoughtful, giving, humble, funny, witty, inspiring, loving, helpful and caring.  She had a heart of gold, and never seemed to meet a stranger. She had a special spirit about her that personified unconditional LOVE, and made others feel accepted for who they are. To know her, truly was to love her.

Brandi meant the world to and was an amazing, and very special auntie (aka “Sissy”) to her niece, who she affectionately called “Princess” and “baby girl’.  She would always say to her niece, “What Do I Love?… and then say, “Your WHOOOOLE Life!!!”.

It goes without saying, that Brandi was a nurturing, loving, and great mother.  She was  considered a Superhero to her three handsome boys “TK”, Brandin and Bryce. She was EVERYTHING and more to her sons. She would always say to them, “THANK GOD FOR BLESSING ME WITH MY THREE WONDERFUL BOYS”.  She always wanted to be sure her boys had everything they needed or wanted, no matter what and was their major support, noting anything the boys achieved was an accomplishment and proud moment for her.  Brandi was extremely excited and looking forward to her eldest son, “TK” graduating from High School and beyond proud that he was accepted to attend University of Cincinnati this Fall. She was equally excited and proud of her twin boys, Brandin and Bryce, promotion to 9^th grade this Fall.  She planned celebrations for all 3 of her boys achievements.

We will miss you dearly, Brandi, and will always cherish the many fond memories we were blessed to share with you.

You are forever in our hearts.  We love you, and our Heavenly Father God loves you more, and saw fit to call you to eternal rest. God sees, God knows, and God Cares!

Brandi was preceded in death by her grandparents, Johnson and Alberta Wade; aunts, Janet Hall and Jewell Shelborne; uncle, Johnny Wade; cousin, John D. Moore, Jr.

Left to celebrate her life, memory and legacy of love, are her three wonderful sons, Hakim “TK” Holly, Jr., Brandin and Bryce Holly; and their father, Hakim Holly, Sr.; loving parents, Wanetta and Wayne T. Lee, Jr.; sister, Juana Agnew; brother, Jason Hawk; niece, Jaide Agnew; aunts, Francine Moore, Debra (Bishop Stanley V.) Wood and Judy Wade; uncle, Calvin (Patty) Wade; father, Willie B. Tatum; many very special cousins; a host of extended family; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, JBC extended family, and special friends.

Isaac McClain Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. Isaac was born January 5, 1957 to the late Isaac Hershel McClain Sr. and Gladys Irene McClain in Louisville, KY. He was blessed with 67 years of life.

At a young age, Isaac’s family moved to Mansfield, Ohio where he became well known to this community. For those of you that shared memories with Isaac knew that he was very competitive in shooting pool, horseshoes, bowling, and basketball.

Left to honor Isaac’s memories are his brothers, Danny McClain Sr. (Mary McClain), Jeffery McClain in Mansfield, OH and Phillip Macklin in Louisville, KY; sisters, Mary Moore in Louisville, KY, Gwendolyn Joyce Jefferson (Noe) in Ellenwood, GA, Benita McClain in Mansfield, OH, Delores Selmon in Toledo, OH; aunts, Dorothy Carr in Mansfield, OH, Dia Rogers, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Lilia Alfaro, aged 55, was called to her eternal rest on May 26, 2024, having been a beacon of God’s love on Earth since her birth on July 20, 1968, in Chamacuaro, Guanajuato, Mexico.

Lilia walked through life with a humble spirit and a heart full of gratitude. Her presence was a testament to the grace she found in everyday blessings and the joy of creation. She served as a mirror of the Almighty’s compassion, radiating His light with every kind act and word, and nurturing the divine spark within her family and community.

She is survived by her beloved children, Vanessa L. Reyna and Jose M. Reyna; her devoted siblings, Beliamar Ayala, Dalia Alfaro-Luna, Lydia Alfaro-Luna alongside her spouse, Carlos Luna, Jaime Alfaro-Vo with his spouse, Vanna Alfaro-Vo, Jose M. Alfaro, and Juan G. Alfaro with his spouse, Tara Alfaro.

She was preceded in joining the Lord by her father, Jose Alfaro; her mother, Maria Alfaro; and her brother, Jose V. Alfaro.

A proud graduate of Ottawa Glandorf High School in 1988, Lilia lived a life of reverence, cherishing the sanctity of kinship and friendship. Her laughter was a hymn of happiness, and her actions, a prayer of service to those she loved.

A service to honor Lilia’s journey to the House of the Father will be held on Friday, June 7, at 9:00 a.m. at Marlan Gary Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, located at 5456 E Livingston Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43232. Her burial will proceed immediately at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery located at 6440 S High St, Lockbourne, Ohio 43137. Her faith found a home at St. Margaret of Cortona Church in Columbus, Ohio, where she worshiped and found fellowship.

As we bid farewell to Lilia Alfaro, we do so with hearts full of thankfulness for the blessing she was in our lives. May her soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Minnie Darlene Reed, born on September 11, 1955 in Tridelphia, WV, passed away on May 22, 2024 , at the age of 68. She was the beloved daughter of Edward and Loraine Reed and is survived by her loving daughters, Kimberly “Kim” Reed and Tamara Kenner.

Minnie dedicated her career to the dietary field and touched the lives of many with her kindness and hard work. She earned her High school diploma and pursued a career that brought comfort and nourishment to those in need.

Minnie was very outgoing and always enjoyed being the life of the party. She was never hesitant to get on the dance floor as she loved dancing. Her true gift was her giving heart. She was truly the glue to the family and always knew how to bring everyone together. She never had to think twice about helping someone or giving up her last. She was a true beauty inside and out.

Minnie is preceded in death by her late husband, Clyde Kenner; her parents, Edward and Loraine Reed; her sister, Edna Mae Merrit; her brother, Edward Charles Reed Jr; her sister, Peggy Ann Reed and countless of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, and others.

Minnie is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Reed and Mark L Smoot, Tamara Kenner and McKinley Carthon; her sisters, Jacqueline Reed-Smith-Brown, Diana Reed, Teresa Reed, Patricia Reed; her brothers Billy Reed, and Clifford Reed; her grandchildren, Nakesha Anderson, Josh

Sha’Ronda La’Trece Foster, affectionately known as Donda, passed away on May 22, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. Born to Earlene Foster and Steve Mathews Sr. on August 1, 1969, in Mansfield, Ohio, she was known for her playful spirit, generosity and was a beacon of light who was loved dearly.

Sha’Ronda graduated from Columbus East High School and obtained her Associates Degree from Urbana University. She was competitive a natural athlete she excelled in several sports throughout her life, most notably playing in the National Women’s Football Association with the Columbus Comets.

Sha’Ronda’s good humor and generous spirit touched everyone she met. Always down for a good time and some mischief, she never let life’s challenges hold her back. She was a curious person full of questions as well as her own opinions. Gifted with an amazing memory and the love of laughter she was full of entertaining stories, sometimes with a hint of exaggeration. Known to give everyone a nickname followed by a hard time but always in a fun-loving way. She truly treasured being around people especially events that involved family and food. Sha’Ronda enjoyed watching her Dallas Cowboys, cooking shows, collecting sneakers, listening to music, talking trash taking pictures mainly of herself and food.

Remembered for her resilience, silliness, love and loyalty, Sha’Ronda made a lasting impact on everyone she met. She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her family and friends. Sha’Ronda truly loved each of them- and if you knew her, you knew it.

Sha’Ronda’s departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who deeply loved her. To know her was to love her.

Sha’Ronda was preceded in death by her parents Earlene Elder (Foster) and Steve Mathews, brother, Steve Mathews Jr.

Sha’Ronda is survived by sisters, Maureen (Sean) Grant and Sparkle Williams; nephews, Miles Cervi, Mason Cervi, and Sean Walker; niece, Alexis Walker; bonus daughter, Jaionna Sharp; and many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins.
