New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has announced the appointment of two attorneys to leadership positions with state agencies in the education and environmental sectors.

Margo Chaly was appointed as executive director of New Jersey’s Higher Education Student Assistance Authority, where she has served as chief of staff since 2021. Chaly will replace David Socolow after his departure for a new opportunity. HESAA is a state agency with the mission of providing students and families with financial and informational resources for students to pursue their education beyond high school, according to its website.
