Published opinions from the Colorado Supreme Court and the Colorado Court of Appeals can now be found online, free of charge and dating as far back as 1864, the state’s judicial department announced Tuesday.

In the spring of 2022, Colorado’s General Assembly passed House Bill 22-1091, known as the Justice Gregory Hobbs Public Access to Case Law Act, in honor of the former justice who advocated for improving access to justice through the courts. The law appropriated $100,000 to upgrade the judicial department’s information technology infrastructure to be able to publish precedential cases online by March 1.
