The Washington State Supreme Court reversed a criminal conviction in a case that, years earlier, aided in the court’s adoption of a bright-line rule on juror discrimination.
Justice Susan Owens reversed Theodore R. Rhone’s criminal conviction, remanding for a new trial and granting his request for collateral relief, finding that the protections for defendants that Rhone’s case helped develop should be applied to him as well.
