When the Sydney-based private equity firm Allegro Funds lobbed its takeover bid for Australia’s Slater & Gordon law firm last month, it became the second private equity firm to take an interest in an Australian law firm in the past 12 months.
The move came about nine months after Straight Bat, another private equity investor, took a 30% stake in insurance law firm Wotton + Kearney.
