As courts pick up the pace for moving cases through a backlogged system, Philadelphia’s litigation boutiques are finding it challenging to recruit and retain legal support staff and paralegals.

But while some law firms in the city are poaching each others’ talent for their specialized skill sets, others, seeking to reduce their reliance on a transient labor market, have rerouted their recruitment efforts toward recent college graduates to train them internally.
