A federal judge in Massachusetts appeared unsure of Mexico’s allegations that several gun manufacturers knowingly facilitated the traffic of guns into the country.

During a hearing for a motion to dismiss the case Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Dennis Saylor repeatedly questioned one of Mexico’s attorneys about whether its legal theory could be applied broadly to allow other countries to sue U.S. gunmakers if an international criminal organization or an individual used an American-manufactured gun in a shooting.
