A New Orleans judge was indicted on four federal tax fraud charges Jan. 7, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

According to the indictment, 2nd City Court Judge Ernestine “Teena” Anderson-Trahan allegedly performed hundreds of marriage ceremonies per year without disclosing the additional income on her federal tax returns. She allegedly charged higher officiant fees for different marriage ceremonies—including those conducted outside of regular business hours, outside of the courthouse and on Valentine’s Day—and allegedly earned between $80 and $100, in cash, for each marriage officiated at the courthouse.
