Questions about a prosecutor’s side job have prompted the Attorney General’s Office to take over the handling of a criminal case from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, but questions remain about who is policing county prosecutors.

On Oct. 20, the Attorney General’s Office took over a fraud case against two building contractors after learning that the prosecutor assigned to the case was running a side business in direct competition with the defendants’ company.
