A Manhattan federal judge on Monday paused a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuit against Lev Parnas until the Ukraine-born businessman and former associate of ex-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani can be tried criminally.

The order, from U.S. District Judge Paul A. Crotty of the Southern District of New York, granted a motion by Manhattan federal prosecutors to intervene in suit to request a complete stay of the SEC’s civil action, pending Parnas’ criminal trial on fraud and campaign finance violations, which is currently scheduled to begin in October.
