Nothing in Ryan Germany’s resume suggests he would stand in the way of a Republican president, but that was his role on Saturday as general counsel to Georgia’s secretary of state in an extraordinary telephone call with President Donald Trump.

Germany, who headed his law school’s Federalist Society and has served as GC for three Republican secretaries of state since 2014, found himself contradicting Trump throughout the 62-minute conversation, according to recordings and transcripts of the call published by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Washington Post, respectively.
