Dechert’s Beijing managing partner and veteran Chinese arbitration lawyer Tao Jingzhou is leaving the firm to join Arbitration Chambers as an independent arbitrator.

Tao, who starts on Oct. 1, has been a partner with Dechert since 2011. One of the most senior arbitration lawyers in China, he’s appeared as counsel and arbitrator on both civil and common law matters before various arbitral institutions including the ICC International Court of Arbitration where he served as its China’s representative for 20 years. Tao was trained and practiced as a lawyer in France in his early years and is fluent in French, English and Chinese. He will split his time between China and France.
