BANANA PEELS + LEATHER

Bring out the fall footwear! 🍂🍃🍂

If your leather flats from last year are looking a little, well, last year – give them a natural clean with your leftover banana peel from breakfast. We’re serious – the banana oils will get rid of scruffs and keep ’em looking fresh. Just remember to wipe your shoes off with a rag after to avoid a banana slip.

Bonus pro-tip: shake a tablespoon of baking soda inside inside your shoes to have them smell squeaky clean.

LEMON JUICE + WHITE SHIRTS

There are few things quite as classic as a crisp, white shirt, until it’s not..

Skip the chemical loaded bleach for approx half a cup of lemon juice loaded right into your washing machine, and sit back and watch your fav white shirt – and your day – start to brighten: making sun (shirts) shine out of lemonade ☀️🍋☀️

PATCHES + JEANS

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But if it is – throw a patch on it ✌🏼

Taken the distressed denim look a little too seriously by practically living in your favorite pair of jeans? What better reason could there be to bring you back to your happy place (the 90s, duh)?! Patch denim is BACK, sister. Turn on some Blackstreet, pour yourself a glass of Tang, and get ready to make your jeans street-style ready.

Bonus pro-tip: place a worn out old t-shirt over the patch when you’re ironing it on your denim, just in case with all the excitement things get overheated.

STALE BREAD + SUEDE

Spilled some morning coffee on your suede jacket in a rush to get to work? Save a piece of that breakfast croissant and you’ll probably save your jacket as well. We aren’t kidding – bread actually works wonders as a “stain eraser” for suede.

Bonus pro-tip: unless it’s an emergency, let the bread sit for a bit until it gets slightly stale and it’ll help rub off the stain better. Try it out and you might be per-sueded. We couldn’t resist 🤓

VODKA + CLOTHES FRESHNER

So you’ve found the perfect 60s midi to channel your inner Mia Farrow tonight – and it’s from a local thrift store – sustainability win!

A quick trick to freshen it up and make it feel brand new? Pour some vodka into a mini sprayer while you’re fixing yourself a pre-game cocktail. Spray the outfit, hang it to dry, and by the time your’e done with your martini you’ll be ready to go. 💃

RED WINE + WHITE WINE

Not everyone can drink red wine in a white outfit as casually and classily as Olivia Pope. Most of us end up with a spill (or a few, depending on how the night turns). But have no fear with champers near. 🍾 A handy trick we discovered is that you can use white wine to knock off red wine stains. How convenient. Just dip a cloth or napkin in a little bit of white wine and gently dab the stain, repeating as necessary.

Bonus pro-tip: if you have some salt easily available (margaritas, anybody?), pour a generous amount over the spill and watch the stain and your worries quickly fade away.
