NELSONVILLE, Ohio — An inmate with ties to Cuyahoga County is missing from Hocking Correctional Facility in Nelsonville.

John Modie, 58, was serving a 15 years to life sentence after being convicted of robbery, murder and escape in Cuyahoga County.

According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, Modie’s absence is being considered a “possible escape.” He was missing from the facility during the 11 p.m. count Sunday night.

Modie is described as being 6’4″ tall. He has gray hair and brown eyes.

Hocking College in Nelsonville is closed until noon due to the incident.
