TOLEDO, Ohio — TARTA is seeking new drivers to join the team servicing Toledo and they are offering a unique opportunity at an interactive event where you can experience getting behind the wheel of a bus.
The event, aptly named Drive The Bus, is designed to facilitate direct interaction with TARTA personnel. This provides a platform for the public to engage, fill out applications and even schedule interviews on the spot.
Leaders at TARTA said this event has been modeled after other drive-a-bus events that other cities and school districts have had.
Ursula Barrera-Richards, the Chief of Human Resources for TARTA, shares why she thinks working for TARTA is so great.
"At TARTA, we have individuals who have dedicated their entire careers to us," Barrera-Richards said. "As a TARTA driver, you become a vital contributor to your community, enabling mobility and facilitating access to work, doctor's appointments and more. We are an integral part of this community."
Though this event is interactive, TARTA is actively recruiting to fill its ranks.
"We would love to hire at least 25, but any number of people we can recruit from this event will be a big win for us because unlike many employers, we feel like TARTA is a great career," Barrera-Richards said.
To drive the bus, you must meet three requirements: you must be 21 years old, have a high school diploma or GED and have a valid operator's license with no more than two points in the last three years.
The event is Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at TARTA's garage location at 1127 W. Central Ave.
