It's the time of year! Perrysburg announced Friday the opening date for its farmers market.

The Perrysburg Farmers Market is set to open Thursday, May 9 with a ribbon cutting for its 25th anniversary. The market, organized by Visit Perrysburg, runs every Thursday from 3-8 p.m. May 9 through Oct. 10.

The first Perrysburg Farmers Market was held in 1999 and only had six vendors, according to the city. Now, the market has 60 vendors and 20 food trucks. The city said 15 of the vendors are farmers which is six more than took part last year.

At the ribbon cutting on May 9 at 3 p.m., five of the original vendors who are still with the market will be there. Vicki Stouffer, the first convention and visitors bureau director who brought the farmers market idea to Perrysburg will also be at the ribbon cutting.

“Vicki’s vision and determination brought this fresh idea to Perrysburg that has now become the signature event for our community,” city councilman Mark Weber said.

The ribbon cutting will be held in front of 214 Louisiana Ave. The city also said Music at the Market starts June 6 at 7 p.m. in the Commodore Schoolyard at the corner of Louisiana Avenue and Indiana Avenue and runs through August.
