KEIZER, Ore. -- Family and friends held a vigil for a Woodburn mother on the one-year anniversary of her disappearance in Keizer.

"We think about her every day," said Cynthia’s mother, Angelica Castillo, at the vigil at Chalmers Jones Park. “I’m so thankful they're doing this, I just want them not to forget Cynthia.”

Surveillance video showed Cynthia at the bar leaving with Jaime Alvarez-Olivera, 31, who police named a person of interest in the case. Castillo urged Alvarez-Olivera to come forward.

“At least his family needs to speak up,” said Castillo. “I know it's their son or brother, but what he did was wrong and it's not right, to cover up something that's not right.”

Many who came to honor Cynthia didn’t know her personally, but were struck by her story.

“It hits close to home,” said Elsa Torres. “We want to find her. We all have one goal, we want to know where she's at and what happened that night.”

Others like Maria Sanchez, considered Cynthia a lifelong friend.

“It's been really, really hard,” said Sanchez. “To see her kids makes me sad because I have my own kids... it's too much.”

Castillo said she believes her daughter is still alive, and that her grandchildren will one day see their mother’s safe return.

“They miss their mom… they're sad, confused and frustrated because we can't give them answers.”

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $8,000 and Crime Stoppers of Oregon is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the location of Martinez or to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for her disappearance.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 503-823-HELP.
