Whether within a mansion or a prefabricated home, integrated storage space is always a welcome addition. Not only does it give you extra space to store and stash your possessions, it does it in a way that doesn’t intrude on the living space in the process.

  • Start by looking under the stairs. There is almost always ample space to do this. You can place storage within the risers, or along the sides of the stairwell. It is ready to use space that is often simply wasted.
  • Another trick to employ is to raise your shelves to the ceiling. Areas above cabinets in laundry rooms and kitchens are often wasted and there is usually enough room to add one or two more shelves.
  • Do you have a lot of gizmos and gadgets? Whether tools or cooking utensils, peg board can line your pantry or garage wall. This will free up counter/cabinet space quickly and give you ready access to the tools and utensils you use most frequently.
