15-year-old girl, two men arrested for Walmart shooting in Norfolk

Police said the teenage girl, Lance B. Henderson, and Josiah D. Williams were involved in the shooting on North Military Highway that left two people hurt.

NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Police arrested three Virginia Beach residents on charges related to a shooting at the Walmart on North Military Highway on July 15.

Two people were hurt in that shooting.

Police were dispatched to the Walmart at 1170 N. Military Highway just before 3 p.m. for the report of a gunshot disturbance in the parking lot.

When they got to the store, police found a woman who was hurt. Medics took her to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Officers said her injury was not considered life-threatening.

A 17-year-old male who had been hit by gunfire showed up at Sentara Norfolk General. Police said he also was expected to survive.

Lance B. Henderson, 18, and Josiah D. Williams, 19, have been charged with two counts of each of the following: use of a firearm, malicious wounding, and conspiracy.

Both men are from Virginia Beach.

Detectives have also charged a 15-year-old female with accessory after the fact. The juvenile was released into the custody of a parent.

Henderson and Williams are currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.

This shooting forced to close the Walmart store earlier than expected. 

“Oh, I had to come get my prescription and I needed it," said customer Sandra Bailey. 

Some customers were forced to go find another place to shop.

“I really don’t understand why we’re pulling out weapons in a public parking lot shooting people," said one Walmart customer.

Police described what happened as an isolated incident. Detectives asked anyone with information about what happened to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. People also can submit tips through the P3Tips mobile app.
