If you can recall all your digital subscriptions from different credit card issuers off of the top of your head then you are probably Rain Man. But, in reality, you are probably one of the people who have a number of unwanted subscriptions that eat away at your monthly budget.
The world is more digital now than it has ever been. According to CNBC, on average, millennial users have 17 subscriptions and most likely have no idea how much these subscription services cost them each month. It is easy, therefore, to have another subscription or two eating away at your income without even knowing it is there.
Finding subscriptions on all your Chase credit cards shouldn't be difficult.Finding subscriptions on all your Chase credit cards shouldn't be difficult.
Anecdotally, that happened to me with a digital newspaper subscription. I subscribed to a local digital paper purely for their business news and food sections. The price was $1.99 with no mention of this being a trial offer. I didn’t even notice it had been bumped to $12.99 after the first month until over a year had passed. That was over $100 gone without me even realizing it. I don’t care about new car wash locations enough to pay that…

Two ways to identify your digital subscriptions on your Chase Card

6 steps using Chase.com

Whether it’s your Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred, or Chase Freedom, checking to see what subscriptions you are paying for isn’t difficult. he problem is that it is entirely time-consuming. Below are the steps to find your monthly subscriptions on your Chase Card manually:
  1. Log in to your Chase Credit Card Account
  2. Click See Credit Card Statements
  3. Review the monthly credit card statement line by line
  4. Click Previous Statements to ensure the monthly recurring charges is the same and wasn’t increased (seriously, do this)
  5. If the charge is there and it is wrong you then have to go through the process of canceling the recurring payment. Good subscriptions will have a couple of pages to click through to cancel. More difficult subscriptions will be tortuous (think robot customer service hell) that you will have to cancel your card to stop automatic billing.
  6. Repeat that process for every single card you have in your wallet. No one has time for this.
This is not ideal for many reasons. To start, many subscription streaming services won’t be called what you think they are on the statement. For example, the local newspaper that I got charged for wasn’t the name of the actual paper. Instead, it was to the holdings group of which the paper was a subsidiary.
Another pain point is that not all subscriptions are created equally meaning that they all have different auto-renewal periods: many subscription services are monthly, others are semi-annually, some are yearly! This makes it really hard to identify subscriptions on your Chase Card manually.

5 steps via Chase Saved Account Manager

Chase, one of the most well-known credit and debit card issuers, also has a new Chase Saved Account Manager feature that allows you to see all the businesses where you’ve saved your card account information for recurring transactions that will/can auto-charge you
  1. Sign in to your Chase Mobile app
  2. Click the credit card you want to review
  3. Swipe up to Account Services
  4. Click Stored Cards
  5. Review all businesses and transactions
However, this feature, too, has limitations. Unfortunately, you can’t cancel subscriptions through the app. Instead, you will have to individually go through these line by line, identify which ones you want to keep and then go to the subscription service to cancel. This feature is also not exclusively for subscriptions–it’s all of your automatic payments making it more difficult to identify your unwanted digital service bills!
