Supply chain challenges disrupt equipment sales

U.S. tractor and combine sales fell for a second straight month in April.

Curt Blades with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers says declines in sales aren’t due to a lack of demand. “That’s largely because of supply chain issues,” he said. “You drive by dealer lots and you see there’s not a lot of inventory of new equipment or used equipment. I think the demand is certainly there.”

He tells Brownfield there was growth in the 100-plus horsepower two-wheel-drive segment. “That’s indicating some real optimism out there in farm country about what the ag economy is going to look like for the next coming months,” Blades said.

Blades says favorable weather patterns and a healthy crop year would create a positive outlook for upcoming equipment sales.
