Today I am excited to announce general availability of the Citrix App Delivery and Security Service (CADS Service) the industry’s first intent-based, continuously optimizing, self-healing, internet-aware application delivery service. After CADS Service was announced in November 2021, multiple customers and partners have taken advantage of participating in the early preview.

“CADS Service provides a simpler management interface for Citrix ADCs, along with easy implementation of security features and analytics. It provides the benefits of a SaaS for management, with the bonus of having the actual product within the tenant to ensure it can take advantage of all the features available. I think this changes the game, allowing for simple  deployment and management of cloud-based ADCs. I know our customers are going to be very interested in CADS Service.” Brian Wagner, Director EUC and cloud Gotham Technology Group

Customers clearly see the need to move to cloud and SaaS, and the growing emphasis on digital infrastructure for business resilience requires a new approach to application delivery. Delivered as a service from the cloud, CADS Service enables IT teams to deliver business applications faster with higher reliability and stronger security. These are some of the common use cases customers and partners are using CADS Service for:

  • Building new apps on Amazon Web Services (AWS): The single workflow feature in CADS Service automates the creation of infrastructure in AWS to deliver the optimal user experience securely. CADS Service discovers the best performing AWS regions and zones and automatically configures the services, endpoints, load balancing, and content rules. Most importantly customer intent gets converted into policies, and security policies are configured in the same workflow. This saves configuration time and eliminates manual errors that could expose applications to threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Migrating applications to the cloud: If you have deployed Citrix ADC, the migration application feature easily converts existing ADC configurations into CADS Service configurations. You have the flexibility to select the applications that you want to migrate from on-premises application environments. This seamless migration helps customers move to the cloud faster and simplifies ADC management.
  • Hybrid multi-cloud application deployments: If you have applications deployed across different public clouds and on-premises datacenters or you are leveraging content delivery networks (CDNs), CADS Service can help provide a better and more reliable user experience. The service’s multi-site application feature automatically enables disaster recovery and uses internet state awareness for automatically selecting PoPs for higher application performance and robust resiliency.

Looking forward I have been working with customers to understand what are their application delivery needs. Top of mind is dealing with compliance requirements, adopting microservices architectures, and more automation and advanced self-healing capabilities. If you have a specific feature requests, you can reach out to your Citrix sales or submit a Request a Call or Request a Demo request on the App Delivery and Security Service page.
