[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] So, let’s just imagine we aren’t looking at yet another cloudy day and instead, we’ve been outside enjoying some heat, maybe a nice glass of pink wine to accompany the sunset and a few nibbles to go with it – mmm! I know we’re not there but it’s that ‘end of a hot day’ feeling that this cooling mask is just perfect for.
I rarely have an issue with any Darphin product – somehow, this brand just seems to get it right by staying in its lane and not trying to be something it isn’t. I haven’t really seen any signs that they’ve abandoned their loyal customer base (mostly older women) in favour of chasing Gen something-or-other and they’re almost 100% skin focused.
The texture – as you can see – is that of loose jam (or do I mean ‘conserve’?) without the stickiness. That’s the kind of weight of it I suppose (don’t try it on toast!) and the feel is instantly cooling – more so if you keep it in the fridge. It takes away any tightness which can come from constant perspiration as well as too much sun. What I like about it is that it doesn’t add any heaviness to skin that already feels set upon. Main interest ingredients are hyaluronic, algae and lavender, although don’t expect a soothing lavender scent – it smells clean and fresh but not with anything I can easily identify – a generic scent. I like the way that bubbles run through it – you don’t feel them on your skin but it adds to the general ‘freshness’ vibe. Leave on for ten minutes or so and feel the heat dissipate and tightness ease – I used it after a hefty afternoon in the garden (not, unfortunately, after a boozy afternoon in the sun) and it was a delight although I didn’t find it gave ’24 hour moisture’ as claimed at the level I want it.
