[unpaid/sample] Here’s a little preview of the new launch mascara coming from Lancome at the end of the month (I’ve had a look to see if it’s sneaked on-line early but it doesn’t appear so) to join the line up of the Monsieur Big mascaras.

Lancome Monsieur Big Extreme Black Mascara

When it comes to black mascaras, they’re not all created equal (nearly, but not quite) when it comes to the depth of colour so if you’re on the hunt for the deepest possible black for your lashes, this is probably it. It’s not really complicated to make mascaras deep – extra carbon black and black iron oxides – so you might wonder why every brand doesn’t do it. I don’t have the answer but I’ve never met a black mascara wearer who would like their lashes less black. I think it’s not until you’ve piled on lots of extra make-up – smoky shades and kohl – that you can see a difference.. and even then… But, that said, I would always opt for the blackest possible if shopping. This is what I would call a ‘full loader’ – big, fat lashes and a strong lash look. It’s £22.

At the same time, we can welcome Lancome Lash Revitalizing Booster, a new, keratin based serum for sad lashes. I think we all go through periods when lash fall is more noticeable and poor lash condition is certainly a thing because they get dry and brittle. So, this sounds rather promising.

Containing four amino acids found in lashes naturally (arginine, glutamic acid, proline and serine) the serum also uses hyaluronic, cica and rose stem cells. I honestly can’t see how lashes wouldn’t respond to this cocktail, which is to be used twice a day. You can add it to the root of the lash or all over the lashes (wait for it to dry) before mascara for a fuller look. However, the one thing in all the consumer evaluated claims it doesn’t make is to lengthen. In fact, 80% of respondents said that their lashes felt revitalized (feel is different to look and I’d say you need a very close relationship to your lashes to know that they feel revitalized) and approximately the same amount recorded seeing less lash fall, shiny and glossy lashes and (feeling) stronger lashes. It’s just interesting to me that key quality is missing. However, knackered lashes are a thing and if used correctly, I don’t see how this can fail to improve things. It will be £35 when it hits both Lancome counters and Boots stores (or on-line).
