From Oak Tree to Trail: Rebuilding a CJ-2A with My Son
2026-03-14 13:22 UTC by Kaiser Willys

My Jeep is a 1947 CJ-2A that I found under an oak tree in a guy’s back yard. I had been looking for a while and stumbled across this one only a few miles from my house. When we got it, it would run, but the floors in the front were gone and there were pieces of the tub in pretty bad shape. No tires matched, no gas tank, and a lot of work on the horizon. My son and I rebuilt it during winter and spring of 2020. I was able to teach him basic wiring and how to rebuild a gearbox and all the other skills used to bring one of these back to life. Now  it’s used on trail runs and backroads in Michigan. The third photo is a cool pic of  a bunch of Jeeps on an early fall run last year near Cadillac Michigan.
