D.C. Federal Court Stops Trump Administration's Attempt to Defund the CFPB—For Now

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting and the U.S. Agency for International Development are among the most notable agencies to have shut down because of a lack of government funding. Many Republicans and large financial institutions are hoping that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will be next. A recent decision from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in National Treasury Employees Union v. Vought, No. 25-0381 (NTEU), however, has poured cold water on those hopes.
