More Friends -Brocanting with the French la Vie

We’re at it again—on the French la Vie! It has been nonstop this year, with so many of you wanting to come, and me trying to fit it all in… before having serious thoughts about retiring. But then there’s Chelsea, ready to take my place. Meanwhile, before that bridge is crossed, we’re having fun—one group after another!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who makes this possible: those who welcome us into their homes, who create amazing dinners for us, who allow us to witness their day-to-day lives, who open their warehouses and garages, and even those who come to the hotel bringing their wares ( this time clothing) for a personal shopping experience. To everyone who has extended their generosity to make this experience what it is—I truly cannot thank you enough.

In this particular group, one of our guests came down with a stomach bug just before arriving. For four days, she could barely eat—just bread and water. How depressing is that coming to France-But then she had Yann as her nurse, so I guess that’s the cherry on top. (No worries, we have had a doctor’s visit, covid test and medicine- all is turning around very well.) (This photo by one of guest, Joanne.)

As for me, I’ve lost my voice—which makes sense, considering how many stories I’ve told in the last six weeks. I’m even starting to tire of my own stories!

Two of the guests have been on a French la Vie before, and I love that. It’s like seeing old friends again—we just pick up where we left off.

Do you want to know how much weight I’ve gained sharing meals with all these wonderful people?
Do you want to know how many new old things I found at the brocante?
Do you want to know how much I miss the Pickles since I’ve been so busy with work?
Do you want to know how Cathy, the jewelry maker, has influenced me?

One thing’s for sure—there’s never a dull moment.
