In Memorial

Cameron Neil

Cameron: Neil Edward;

Neil Edward Cameron, 72, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, after suffering a heart attack, with his beloved wife Jane by his side following a day they had enjoyed together. His passing brings an end to years of living with ankylosing spondylitis.

Born on June 8, 1953, as the fourth of five children to Allan and Monica Cameron, Neil was a man of deep faith who loved the Lord and was committed to his beliefs. He was a skilled craftsman who loved to work with wood, so much so that he had just finished a beautiful restoration of a neighbour’s chair from the 1800s. He was also a devoted cribbage player who took great joy in his victories—always hoping his opponents wouldn’t “make their pillow too wet crying themselves to sleep” after he beat them.

Neil loved his family deeply, albeit in ways that weren’t always apparent. In recent years, he had committed to reflecting on his life and experiences and was working courageously to repair relationships where he could. This journey of self-reflection showed the man he was becoming.

He leaves behind his wife Jane; his children Fiona Proctor (married to Jon Proctor, grandsons Jeremy and Ryan Proctor), Lachlan Cameron (married to Stacy Cameron, grandsons Joshua and Parker Cameron), Dugald Cameron (partner to Amanda Fowlie), and Morrah Jacubiek (partner to Mike Jacubiek, granddaughter Kamryn Haeny); his four siblings, Sandy Cameron, Helen Coombs (the late Gary Coombs), Katherine Cameron, and Jamie Cameron (and wife Arlene), and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at New City Church, 1110 Stellar Drive, Newmarket, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00am. A reception will follow in the New City Church reception hall.

Interment will take place at McNeil Cemetery, 633405 Artemisia-Glenelg Townline, Priceville, at 3:00pm. This is quite a distance from the funeral service; please do not feel obliged to make the trip.

Please consider donating to Ontario Farmland Trust. Neil was passionate about preserving Ontario’s farmland. Arrangements entrusted to Rod Abrams Funeral Home, Tottenham. Online condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.RodAbramsFuneralHome.com.

For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed and can be viewed at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/live/f4vH8N7PsnI
