National Night Out is a program that encourages local police departments to connect with the community in a fun way, and encourages the community members to stand together for safety and awareness. The official date is the first Tuesday in August, although not all communities hold their National Night Out event on that date.
Some National Night Out events are for the general public and some are for members of specific communities or neighborhoods.
The Knothole Foundation is hosting a National Night Out Celebration at the Richard “Stick” Williams Dream Fields and Education Center, 7531 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. This is a rescheduled date, due to the weather on August 5.
This free event will bring the Charlotte community together for an evening of fun, unity, and friendly competition.
One of the many highlights of the night will be a spirited on-field scrimmage baseball game between teams from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) and Charlotte Fire Department (CFD) — a showcase of camaraderie and community connection beyond the badge and the firehouse.
Highlights Include:
Baseball clinic for kids
Free event
Hot dogs and refreshments
CMPD vs. CFD baseball scrimmage
Family activities
