They want to help—
Always.
Not because they know how,
but because they want to.

Curious eyes catch what we miss.
A crumb, a wrinkle in cloth, the beat of a dripping faucet-
a question wrapped in silence—
What does this do?
Why does that bend?
Can I do it?

We’re often in a hurry.
We say,
“Not now.”
“Maybe later.”
“It’s faster if I do it.”

But what if we slowed—
just a breath—
long enough to see
the beauty of small hands
learning?

The reach, the fumble,
the quiet determination.
Their fingers, certain,
grasp at more than objects—
they reach for us,
for understanding,
for belonging
in our grown-up world.

And if we let them in,
if we kneel beside their wonder,
we might find something
we once had,
and put to the side.
Not lost,
just waiting.
