Visitation: 6pm to 8pm Friday, May 2, 2025 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, Waco
Funeral: 10am Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, Waco
Interment: Mart Cemetery
Donald married Gloria Verdene Pace on September 2, 1961 in Wortham, Texas. Don and Verdene were longtime members of Lakeview United Methodist Church. Donald taught agriculture for 38 years at Connally High School and then drove the school bus for another 22 years. In 1961 Donald joined the US Army serving as a Sergeant with the Recon Scouts until his honorable discharge in 1964. He was also a longtime Livestock Superintendent for the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo where he received his 55 year lifetime achievement award.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Verdene Jones, parents, Okie Jones and Jessie Freeman; step-father, C.M. Freeman; and grandson, Deputy Sheriff Matthew Jones.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Lynn Jansky and husband Jerome of Porter Springs and Chris Kuykendall and husband Larry of Waco; son, Ronnie Jones and wife Debbie of West; grandchildren, Justin Jansky, Brandon Jones, Stephen Jones and wife Melissa and Courtney Jones Rickman; great grandchildren, Hunter Jones, Nolan Jansky, Sylee Jones, Avery Jones and Sunny Jones; siblings, Charlene Travers, Jeanette Marek and Jim Jones and many other relatives in addition to scores of students and colleagues that he inspired and influenced throughout his lifetime.The post Donald Dean Jones appeared first on Lake Shore Funeral Home & Cremation Services | Waco Texas.
