East Lansing — Last week, Michigan State center Matt Costello underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

On Saturday, Michigan State announced that fellow center Gavin Schilling had the same procedure on his left knee and will be out of action for a couple of weeks.

Both players were at the Michigan State spring football game on Saturday. Schilling was on crutches while Costello was on the sideline as honorary captain for the Green team. Travis Trice was the honorary captain for the White team.

Schilling started 33 games as a sophomore and averaged 5.1 points and 3.8 rebounds. He played all 39 games during the 2014-15 season and averaged 16.9 minutes a game.
