PORTLAND, Ore. — As the weather gets sunnier and warmer, many families will be looking for ways to get outside. The Oregon Zoo is bringing back Zoo Nights: 10 Friday nights packed with live music and food on the concert lawn.

Zoo Nights will kick off on June 21 with the Garcia Birthday Band, followed by a performance on June 28 by Life During Wartime, a Talking Heads tribute band.

Here are the other artists and groups that are scheduled to perform:

  • July 5: Pa'Lante
  • July 12: Ural Thomas and the Pain
  • July 19: Robert Henry Band
  • July 26: Orquestra Pacifico Tropical
  • Aug. 2: Hit Factory with Patrick Lamb
  • Aug. 9: Melao de Cuba
  • Aug. 16: Jujuba
  • Aug. 23: Aaron Nigel Smith

Each concert will start at 6:30 p.m., and there will also be activities and "animal experiences" for people of all ages starting at 5 p.m., according to the zoo. The event will also have food carts as well as the zoo's popular elephant ears, and local beer and wine for people 21 and older.

Zoo Nights is not included with regular daytime admission. Tickets must be purchased online ahead of time.

"Portland is known for its perfect summer evenings, and once they’re here, I look for every opportunity to get outside and have a good time with the kids," said Heidi Rahn, zoo director. "Zoo Nights is a chance to enjoy a fun evening together and learn about wildlife."
