The Inkey List Tripeptide Plumping Lip Balm Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Ages ago, I got influenced and bought the un-tinted version (there were no tints at that time) of this sell out lip plumper. Anyone who saw my reel and/or post on NYX Duck Plump will know that plumping lip products are not my favourite thing! However, The Inkey List are taking a longer term approach with their plumping lip balm and to make the process smoother, they’ve added three tinted shades, of which I have one. I feel it’s easier to commit to longer term if there’s a colour aspect you can top up with.

The claim is that this formula can plump the lips up to 40% over a month – I cannot imagine my lips 40% bigger to be honest as they’re quite full as it is. I can assure you that there is no tingle and in fact, it feels more like a creamy gloss than anything. There’s no balminess as such and because of the slip it needs topping up regularly.

There are three shades in the new tinted version – pink, mocha and berry – and I have the mocha version here which is a warm neutral that’s very wearable day to day. The claims – the 40% fuller lips – have a very small test group of 20 although it is an independent study but I can see, especially with the number of times you’d need to reapply in a day, that inroads may well be made although I feel more comfortable with the smoothing claim. It’s really for that reason that I’d keep on using it because I have, and have always had, quite crinkly lips and even after a few applications I can see that my lips do look smoother.

I like the feeling of it on my lips – it reminds me of Korean glazes – but it is quite high maintenance in terms of needing to be topped up. As a life long lip gloss lover, I don’t mind this at all but if you prefer your lip colours to last the day, it’s not for you.
