Fleet Week Miami free concerts and events, 2024

During Fleet Week Miami, the Navy will be sending four ships to Port Miami and a schedule of events is being planned to welcome the Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen to South Florida.

Fleet Week: May 5-12, 2024

Enjoy free concerts by Navy and Marine Corps bands, learn about the capabilities of U.S. Sea Services, and tour the visiting ships.

Public ship tours (subject to change):

  • Monday-Friday: 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

Tickets can be requested online at www.fleetweekmiami.org or via the Fleet Week Miami Facebook page approximately 24-48 hours in advance. This marks the first time the Navy is holding the premiere community outreach event in Miami-Dade County. It had previously been held at Port Everglades in Broward County.

Parking is available at Port Miami. 

The best place to see the arrival of the USS Bataan, an amphibious assault ship with crew in their dress whites manning the rails, is South Pointe Park, 1 Washington Ave., Miami Beach.

Sunday, May 5 at 6: 45 p.m.: An F-18 flyover will mark the arrival of the ship. Please note: There is extremely limited parking. Plan to take ride share services or public transportation. Click here for more information.

Some events are for military only; here is a sample of some of the public offerings:

  • Wednesday, May 8: Dancing with the Stars and Stripes at 8 p.m.
    Twenty visiting military will get a true introduction to South Florida's Latin culture: They will receive several hours of intense dance instruction at the  Tower Theater Cultural Center, 1508 SW 8th St., (Calle Ocho), in preparation for a fun performance at 8 p.m. before the judges and a live audience in Domino Plaza. The public is invited to attend.
  • Saturday, May 11: City of Miami Beach Top Gun Beach Olympics
    Watch teams face off at Lummus Park, 1130 Ocean Drive, on South Beach, as teams from the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and local First Responders compete in volleyball, tug of war, and more. Free and open to the public. No tickets required.

Free concerts in Coral Gables

The Navy Band Southeast will present four free concerts in Coral Gables:

  • Sunday, May 5, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at McBride Plaza, 150 Miracle Mile. Popular songs performed by Pride, the Navy Band Southeast's pop group. Bring lounge chairs and blankets, plus a picnic if you want.
  • Monday, May 6, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Venetian Pool, 2701 De Soto Blvd. The Navy VIP Jazz Combo will perform. Food trucks will provide food and drinks for purchase.
  • Friday, May 10, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the “The Water Below Us” exhibit at Giralda Plaza and Galiano Street. The Navy's Fair Winds Woodwind Quintet will perform under the installation.
  • Saturday, May 11, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave. Pride, the Navy Band Southeast's pop group, will perform. Cash bar and coffee cart will be on site.

Free concert at Vizcaya Village

The U.S. Navy Band Woodwind Quintet will perform at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 12, at the Vizcaya Village Farmers Market. Entry is free with RSVP.
