CHS announces intent to purchase eight Cargill grain facilities

CHS, Inc. has announced plans to purchase eight Cargill grain facilities in five states to optimize its supply chain. CHS says the deal will also improve market access and value for its owners.

The facilities included in the sale are located in Minnesota (Pipestone and Maynard); Illinois (Morris and Seneca); Holdredge, Nebraska; Parker, South Dakota; and Colorado (Cheyenne Wells and Byers).

Rick Dusek, executive vice president of ag retail, distribution, and transportation, with CHS, says the move is part of the company’s larger strategy to invest in its supply chain to efficiently connect patrons to the global marketplace.

Cargill says the two companies have a strong partnership based on shared values which made CHS the right partner for the sale.

CHS is the nation’s second-largest grain handling company in North America.

The purchase is tentatively planned to close in early June.
