[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] The Inkey List has just produced a couple of body products under the umbrella Inkey Body. In the UK, we don’t have nearly the same choice of body products as we do for facial products and very little sitting in that in between slot of mid-price. I really like The Inkey List’s thinking on their Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Body Stick and PHA Water Cream – they’re using chemical exfoliants to smooth the skin – and they’re reasonably priced at £15 and £13 respectively. I’ve been a fan of chemical exfoliants for the body since I tried Gatineau’s famously good AHA Body Cream and was just amazed at how soft it leaves the skin, far outweighing any physical exfoliant and body creams. It takes a while longer to work than the immediacy of physical, but it’s well worth it.
This sturdy stick is a back-of-the-arm best friend – it’s where I used to get KP and it drove me mad. I still have it on my upper thighs but a couple of years ago I tested Coolsculpt (a fat freezing treatment) on my upper arms and not only did it work to make my arms look more toned, but it completely disappeared my KP there although I still have dull, dry skin there. The stick contains 7% glycolic acid and 0.5% salicylic acid in a shea butter (amongst others) base. Try it three times a week to start with as advised by the brand, but I’ve used it five days on the trot and my skin has been absolutely fine. The brand claims results after 7 days and actually, that fits – my arms have gone from dry to supple and smooth. I’ll start on legs next.
Chemical exfoliants work by loosening the bonds on the upper layers of the skin, allowing the old skin to slough away and fresher, more glowy skin to be revealed. You’ll feel it before you see it, in my experience. Physical exfoliants run the risk of physically damaging the skin – gosh, when I think about what I’ve scraped over my poor legs in the past! You can use the stick for spot clearing patches of KP (probably not the most cost effective way to clear it if you have it in great amounts), heel cracking, bikini and underarm in-growns and dry elbows. It doesn’t smell of anything much – just slightly waxy, and feels like a body balm on the skin. I think it’s £15 very well spent HERE.
