Thoughtful Expressions Enjoy Pillow Box
Last month, I featured the Thoughtful Expressions Suite to create a Make & Take Kit for my Too Cool Stampers Team members. I also created this beautiful treat box to include in their kit. I was totally surprised at how easily the box came together and how much it held! Let me tell you, it was a big hit with my team!
Background Box Basics
I used the awesome and soon-to-retire Square Pillow Boxes to create this cool treat! These boxes are so easy to assemble! Simply decorate, fold and adhere with the self-adhesive strips. My friend Peggy Tassler tipped me off that I could decorate the top of the box easily with the Deckled Circles Dies. Wow! She was right!
First, I folded the Square Pillow Box on the score lines. , I die-cut the Poetic Expressions Designer Series Paper with the largest Deckled Circle die and used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to center it onto the top of the Square Pillow Box. It fits so nicely, leaving about 1/4″ white border around the edge. I used my retired 3/4″ Circle Punch to punch out the DSP notch to match the notch in the box. If you don’t have that punch, simply use Paper Snips. Then, just fold and crease on the score lines once again and assemble the box.
I tied some retiring White Herringbone Ribbon around the box, which still leaves the end open for easy access to the treats inside. I filled with candy, but there is lots of room for things; several Ghirardelli Chocolates for instance, or money, but not big enough for a gift card.
Focal Point
I die-cut a Moody Mauve Thoughtful Expressions label for the focal point background. Next, I stamped the Thoughtful Expressions hummingbird in Memento Tuxedo Black onto Basic White. I colored it with Stampin’ Blends Markers: Wild Wheat for the beak, Bubble Bath and Moody Mauve for the head and tail feather, Boho Blue for the body and inside wings and Lost Lagoon for the outer wings. I also added some Wink of Stella, which is currently hard to find everywhere because of manufacturer’s supply issues. I die-cut the bird and popped it up with Dimensionals.
Finishing Touches
I stamped the Thoughtful Expressions sentiment at one end of a 1/2″ wide Basic White strip. I banner cut the end, trimmed off after the “enjoy” word and tucked it under the hummingbird, also popping it with Dimensionals. I finished with a few Iridescent Rhinestones for more sparkle.
Two Cool
I did a second version in another Boho Blue pattern of Poetic Expressions DSP. I used the same elements with the background label in Boho Blue, an identical hummingbird, sentiment and gems.
