Fatal crash involving child in St. Johns neighborhood

A child believed to be 4-years-old, was unconscious in one of the involved cars. Despite lifesaving efforts, the child died at the hospital, said Portland police.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A child believed to have been four-years-old has died after a crash involving two-cars in Portland's St. Johns neighborhood, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB).

On Wednesday, around 9:05 p.m. PPB responded to reports of a crash at North Fessenden Street and North Mohawk Avenue. When officers arrived, they found two cars had crashed into each other, according to PPB.

The 4-year-old child was found unconscious in one of the involved cars. Medical responders took the child to the hospital, despite performing life-saving measures, the child died. A woman, man and two other children were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said PPB.

All drivers involved stayed at the scene, according to PPB.

The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team is investigating this case. During the investigation North Fessenden Street is closed in both directions between North Richmond Avenue and North Allegheny Avenue.
