Curtis Glencross, Calgary – Hard working winger who has fallen out of favor in Calgary. He’ll give you his heart and soul and has the knack to score some big goals. TRADED 3/1: Washington for 2015 second-round pick and 2015 third-round pick

Chris Stewart, Buffalo – At age 27, Stewart is at a bit of a crossroads, his career falling rather than ascending. Maybe it’s all the losing in Buffalo? Teams looking for size and skill (though he's inconsistent) could gamble. TRADED 3/2: Minnesota for 2017 second-round pick

Antoine Vermette, Arizona – Not a superstar, but a real good, dependable two-way center with playoff experience who’ll be an unrestricted free agent on July 1. A pure rental, Vermette won’t come cheap in a trade. TRADED 2/28: Chicago for Klas Dahlbeck, D and 2015 first-round pick

Tyler Bozak, Toronto – It’s a long shot with multiple years left on his contract, but he’s the type of two-way forward that could help a team, but more likely around the Entry Draft. UPDATE: Remained with Toronto

Phil Kessel, Toronto – The Maple Leafs want to clean house and Kessel’s act has worn thin. He’s a goal scorer, but not great defensively, and there’s a lot of term and money left on his contract. UPDATE: Remained with Toronto

Jordan Eberle, Edmonton – The Oilers have to make some changes and overhaul the chemisty and culture of their locker room. Eberle has term and money on his contract, will likely be dealt at the draft, but someone desperate could make an offer by Monday. UPDATE: Remained with Edmonton

Daniel Briere, Colorado – He’s a healthy scratch most nights, and at 37, the center is a few months from retirement, but Briere could be a good gamble for some teams given his playoff experience and success. He’s scored a lot of big playoff goals. UPDATE: Remained with Colorado

Jaromir Jagr, New Jersey – Interesting problem here because the Devils are suddenly sneaking into the playoff race. Do they keep Jagr? If not, even at age 43, Jagr can help a team – to a point.TRADED 2/26: Florida for 2015 and '16 third-round picks

Michael Ryder, New Jersey – Ryder has fallen out of the lineup with the resurgent Devils and could bring some sort of asset back for a team that’ll need to rebuild. UPDATE: Remained with New Jersey

Martin Erat, Arizona – His best days are likely behind him, but for a mid-round draft pick the right wing could be an interesting acquisition. UPDATE: Remained with Arizona

Erik Cole, Dallas – At age 36 there’s a lot of tread on the tires, but Cole has had some success this season and is the rugged type of winger that is effective in the playoffs. TRADED 3/1: Detroit with 2015 conditional third-round pick for Mattias Backman, D; Mattias Janmark F; amd 2015 second-round pick

Defensemen who could be on the move.

Andrej Sekera, Carolina – Maybe not the best known of the available rental defensemen, but he’s always been a steady point-producer who has warts defensively but is a smooth offensive defenseman. TRADED 2/25: Los Angeles for D Roland McKeown and conditional first-round pick

Michael Del Zotto, Philadelphia – The Flyers probably won’t move him given they’re back in the playoff picture. But at age 24, Del Zotto wears out his welcome because of defensive problems. UPDATE 3/2: Remained with Philadelphia

Keith Yandle, Arizona – Not a rental, Yandle has one year left on his contract and will more likely be dealt during the Entry Draft. Better offensively than defensively. TRADED 3/1: N.Y. Rangers with Chris Summers, D; and 2015 fourth-round pick for John Moore, D; Anthony Duclair, F; 2016 conditional first-round pick, and 2015 second-round pick

Jeff Petry, Edmonton – The right-handed shot a lot of teams covet, he and the Red Wings have been linked a long time ecause of the defenseman's local ties (Grosse Pointe, Michigan State, son of former Tigers pitcher Dan Petry). A rental, he’ll be an unrestricted free agent July 1. TRADED 3/2: Montreal for 2015 second-round pick and 2015 conditional fifth-round pick

James Wisniewski, Columbus – The Blue Jackets have been falling out of love with this Canton native and wouldn’t mind getting rid of his contract. Good luck with that. TRADED 3/2: Anaheim with 2015 third-round pick for Rene Bourque, F; William Karlsson, F; and 2015 second-round pick

Dion Phaneuf, Toronto – The Maple Leafs captain may have to go to change the culture in the locker room. He’s probably miscast in Toronto as the No. 1 defenseman. As a second pair guy, Phaneuf could thrive. Not a rental, he has plenty of term and money left. UPDATE: Remained with Toronto

Zbynek Michalek, Arizona – He has a lot of qualities the Red Wings would like. He shoots right, has size (6-foot-2, 210 pounds), and is defensive minded. He hasn’t played a ton of playoff games but at age 32, he wants to win. TRADED 3/2: St. Louis along with conditional pick for Maxim Letunov, F; and

Mike Green, Washington – The Capitals likely will not move him given they’re deep in the playoff hunt, but just in case, Green would be a nice addition to any blue line. He brings an offensive game and he’s matured on the defensive end. UPDATE: Remained with Washington

Andrej Meszaros, Buffalo – By no means is Meszaros a difference maker, but as a rental, he could provide depth for playoff teams. UPDATE: Remained with Buffalo

Marek Zidlicky, New Jersey – Shoots right-handed, is a good power-play guy, moves the puck, but isn’t very big (5-foot-11, 190-pounds) and at age 38, isn’t particularly durable. Could be real good insurance. TRADED 3/2: Detroit for conditional draft picks

Jonathan Bernier, Toronto – Another guy the Maple Leafs might be getting rid of simply to change the look of the locker room. He’s a restricted free agent who the Maple Leafs aren’t sure is a No. 1 goalie. UPDATE: Remained with Toronto
