Ann Arbor — A man charged with providing a dose of illegal drugs that killed a University of Michigan music student has pleaded guilty.

The Ann Arbor News reports 20-year-old Brandon Phillips could serve up to 20 years for selling heroin and cocaine to 20-year-old Bruce Ketterer. Phillips pleaded guilty Thursday to delivery of a controlled substance causing death and other charges in two cases.

Washtenaw County Trial Court Judge Darlene O’Brien agreed to sentence the Ann Arbor man to 5 to 20 years in prison.

Ketterer was found dead by his roommates at their rented house on May 26.

Police said that Phillips made a remark to them that he wanted to become the go-to heroin dealer for University of Michigan students.
