Police: Forgotten wallet leads to arrests in robbery

Monroe — Police have arrested two suspects after one of them left his wallet behind during an armed robbery at a Monroe Township gas station.

Michigan State Police First Lt. Tony Cuevas says the first suspect left his wallet on the counter early Saturday morning after initially asking to buy cigarettes. He says the second suspect entered the gas station and pulled a gun on the female clerk.

Cuevas says the first suspect handed a bag to the clerk and told her to fill it with cash. He says the suspects fled after receiving the money, leaving the wallet behind.

The Monroe News both suspects were arrested by Saturday afternoon.
