East Lansing police investigating man's death

EAST LANSING – Police are investigating the death of a 24-year-old man who was found Monday in an apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest.

East Lansing police Lt. Steve Gonzalez said he expects more information will be released Tuesday about a the man who was found inside an apartment in the 1200 block of Deerpath Lane.

The man's name was not released.

Officials said there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment. Someone who lives in the apartment came home and found the man at about 1:30 p.m. A news release Monday said the community is not believed to be at risk.

Gonzalez said it was not clear if the man lived at the apartment. He also could not provide information about whether a gun was found on or near the man's body.
