BBQ, beer, Balkans and more come to town for first Greencastle Grub & Pub Festival

North Carlisle Street was a smorgasbord of scents Saturday, Sept. 16, as the Greencastle Grub & Pub Festival made its debut.

Just over an hour into the inaugural event, Debby Cunningham, executive director of the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce, was already looking ahead to next year.

“For the first event, I’m really, really thrilled,” Cunningham said citing the clearly evident community support. “I’d like to make it even better next year.”

The Moo was among the food vendors at the first Greencastle Grub & Pub Festival on Sept. 16.

A picture-perfect fall day provided the backdrop as people picked cuisine from food trucks on North Carlisle Street, which was closed to traffic, Center Square and the parking lot of the Life Center.

The selection ranged from BBQ, Filipino food and loaded tots to sweet and savory egg rolls and ice cream.

The 21 and over crowd could check out local craft beers, wine and spirits in the Pub Garden.

Rough Edges Brewing was among the ‘pub’ participants at the first Greencastle Grub and Pub Festival on Sept. 16.

Ax throwing and live entertainment rounded out the activities at the festival, and there was plenty of shopping nearby, too.

Halbrendt Vineyard and Winery was one of the participants in the Greencastle Grub & Pub Festival Sept. 16.

Part of the reason the chamber introduced the festival was to spotlight downtown shopping at local store, pop-up shops and the Fall Market on the Lawn at the shop and consign & collect co.
