Tailgating at 4:30 a.m.: Eagles superfan couldn't wait to pregame for Thursday Night Football

One Philadelphia Eagles fan could not wait until Thursday night to start tailgating.

Gregg Matza, a diehard Eagles fan, pulled up to the parking lot at Lincoln Financial Field at 4:30 a.m. to start tailgating ahead of Philadelphia's home opener.

"This is what I do," Matza said in a video posted to Twitter by KYW Newsradio's Tim Jimenez. "I'm usually the first one down here."

The Eagles superfan said he went to bed early the night before in preparation to arrive to the field in the early morning hours. Matza also predicted a big night from running back D'Andre Swift and a six-point Philadelphia win. Come kickoff, he'll be watching the game from his end-zone seats.

"Why wouldn't you want to be down here for a game like this?" Matza added. "This is primetime. The whole world gets to see the Eagles play."

Eagles starting lineup

Philadelphia will have to play without some of their normal starters due to injury. Running back Kenneth Gainwell (ribs), cornerback James Bradberry (concussion) and safety Reed Blankenship (ribs) are all listed as out for Thursday night's game. In addition, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox is questionable with a ribs injury of his own.

Running backs D'Andre Swift, Boston Scott and Rashaad Penny will have to pick up the slack left in Gainwell's absence. Cornerback Josh Jobe and safeties Terrell Edmunds and rookie Sydney Brown will have to do the same in place of Bradberry and Blankenship, respectively, on the defensive side.

Should Cox be ruled out ahead of the game, rookie Jalen Carter and third-year Milton Williams could see extra defensive snaps.

If Penny plays, it will mark his Eagles debut after five years with the Seahawks and a healthy scratch on Sunday.
