Say bye to May gray and welcome June gloom this weekend | San Diego Local Forecast

The Marine Layer will stay thick along the beaches with only hazy sunshine in the afternoon.

SAN DIEGO — Now that the May Grey is behind us, we have the June Gloom to look forward to. A weak trough over the west is helping create a slight Coastal Eddy over the waters off Southern California, intensifying the marine layer and keeping temperatures below average along the Coast and Inland with only partial clearing at the beaches.

Over the weekend, a dip in the jet stream will return due to an area of low pressure moving through the Pacific Northwest. This will only be a weak feature for Southern California that deepens the marine layer and will have temperatures slipping by a degree or two. The marine layer will stay thick along the beaches with only hazy sunshine in the afternoon.

Temperatures will remain in the near seasonal range for the coast and inland valleys with more above seasonal heat in the mountains and desert. Basically, we are still talking about minor day-to-day changes when it comes to temperatures and the extension of the marine layer each night and morning.

AT THE COAST:

Surf heights will be one to three feet, with water temperature around 65 degrees.

NEXT WEEK:

A slight warming trend is expected by mid-next with temperatures moving back to near average for the Coast and Inland. Mountains will be above average, and the Deserts in the low 100's.
