The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit is working to determine what caused two house fires that occurred in recent days in Franklin County.

Two people were displaced after their Letterkenny Township home caught fire Sunday morning, according to a police report. They were not home at the time of the fire.

Franklin Fire Company responded just after 7 a.m. to the scene at 15 Canterbury Drive, in Cheesetown, the department wrote on its Facebook page.

Flames were coming from the roof of the split foyer-style house when firefighters arrived. The fire was mostly extinguished within 20 minutes, but crews remained at the scene for about two and a half hours and completed extensive overhaul, according to Franklin Fire Company.

The home was left with significant fire damage to the roof and attic, and the main living floor and basement sustained heavy water damage, police said.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. Anyone with information should call PSP-Chambersburg at 717-264-5161.

A house fire on Cape Lookout Street in Greene Township that happened at about 6 p.m. Friday is believed to be accidental, but the cause is under investigation, according to a police report released Monday.

The fire damaged the siding and ceiling of a covered porch at the back of the home, police said.

Cape Lookout Drive is located just east of Woodstock Road and within sight of Interstate 81.

Nobody was injured in either fire, according to police.
